HVAC Spring Maintenance

Being a homeowner in the midwest comes with certain challenges. Icy cold winters and hot, humid summers make for some battles with climate control in your homes and businesses. As a company that has been in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning business for over 50 years we know a thing or two about these rhythms. You may have a few questions about these rhythms, so we are here to answer them for you!

How often should I have my unit Inspected?

Two times a year is recommended. Your HVAC system goes through a lot in a year, so it is best to have it inspected and maintenance in the Autumn and in the Spring. The other times you should have a unit inspected would be at the time of purchasing a new property and if the unit is behaving oddly.

At Midway Sheet Metal, we offer a Scheduled Maintenance Program. This program allows you to be taken care of and prepared without having to give extra mental energy to it. To learn more about the details of that, click here.

How can I save money?

This question is an important one! Not only can you save money, but you are able to reduce your energy usage and help create a more sustainable world! The best way for you to be able to do this is to get a smart thermostat. The value is incredible. Scheduling your temperatures can allow for massive savings. Some units even have features that will recognize when you’re out of the house and flip into an eco mode. If you don’t have a smart thermostat, you should call us right now. It’s affordable and will pay for itself very quickly!

What can I do to maintain my system?

There aren’t too many ways too DIY. However, the main thing that you can do is keep your air filters clean. They should be changed every 3-6 months, depending on the unit. The only other thing that you could do is try to not push your units to extremes.
